The employees of the Schleswig-Holstein police are to receive a digital service ID card. It is to be uniform and forgery-proof. This was announced by Minister of the Interior Dr. Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) in the state parliament in Kiel.
The new police service cards will contain a radio chip and thus offer the possibility of considerable functional extensions. “For example, the chip present in the new police service card can contain access authorisations for buildings and authorisations for time recording systems on police information systems,” said the Christian Democrat.
The old police service cards were created decades ago on the basis of then existing ID document forms. Since then, they have only been slightly adapted. The Minister of the Interior said: “As you can all imagine, such an identity card is easy to forge or copy and is simply no longer ‘state of the art’. It only serves as a showcase identity card and has no further functionalities. “The new digital and forgery-proof police ID card will come and it can be a kind of blueprint for the rest of the state administration,” Sütterlin-Waack was convinced.
