India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Academy has taken a step towards improving international cooperation and strengthening law enforcement. It has become the tenth member to join the INTERPOL Global Academy Network. The move will help enhance regional and global policing capacity and promote cooperation between law enforcement agencies worldwide.
Launched in 2019, the INTERPOL Global Academy Network is led by INTERPOL’s Capacity Building and Training Directorate and aims to provide a global approach to law enforcement training. By assisting INTERPOL in providing specialised training on its policing capabilities, offering continuing professional development programmes, jointly developing and delivering new training programmes, and collaborating on joint research projects, members of the network will assist INTERPOL in expanding training opportunities for law enforcement agencies worldwide. In particular, the CBI Academy will expand training opportunities for INTERPOL member countries in the Asia region.
INTERPOL expects more to join later this year.
