In Berlin, a new situation report on the situation in the area of clan crime has been published by the Senate’s internal administration and the police. According to the report, almost 900 crimes related to this form of criminality were committed last year.
In addition, 303 suspects could be identified. This corresponds to 0.2 per cent of all suspects identified in the federal capital (136,750). The offences are therefore particularly fraud offences, traffic offences, narcotics, violent and property crime as well as money laundering. In addition, 66 suspects are accused of 89 administrative offences, in particular for violations in the area of traffic and weapons law. In total, 519,827 offences were reported to the police in Berlin last year. According to the situation report, a total of 582 persons are attributed to clan crime structures and networks.
In 2022, there were 160 police control operations against clan crime, including 84 in cooperation with other authorities. In the process, more than 600 properties were inspected and 36 of them were closed. Furthermore, around 52,000 euros, 11,200 untaxed cigarettes, almost 210 kilograms of water pipe tobacco, 633 sales units of narcotics, 34 motor vehicles and more than 80 money gambling machines were seized. This also applies to almost 50 weapons or dangerous objects.
