The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) sent 37,064 “silent text messages” in the first half of 2022. In the second six months, there were 14,886 that were technically recorded. This is revealed in the Federal Government’s answer to a minor question by the Left Party parliamentary group in the German Bundestag.
According to this, the Federal Police also sent 12,475 “silent text messages” in the first half of 2022. Via companies, 457 were added. In the second half of 2022, there were 7,227 “silent text messages”. A further 903 were sent via companies. As the Federal Government explains, in addition to sending silent text messages themselves, the Federal Police also used technical service providers to fulfil legal tasks. “Silent SMS” to mobile phones are used, among other things, to locate the owner’s location.
In an answer to another minor question, this time from the AfD parliamentary group, the federal government provides information on the number of violent crimes and other offences recorded by the federal police in relation to railway stations and trains in Baden-Württemberg last year. According to the Police Entrance Statistics (PES) of the Federal Police, 2,538 violent offences, 214 sexual offences, 94 weapons offences, 3,702 property offences and 1,790 narcotics offences were registered in relation to railway stations and trains in Baden-Württemberg in 2022.
