Bundeskriminalamt

Gesetzlicher Auftrag

Wie bei jeder staatlichen Behörde unterliegen auch die Zuständigkeiten und Befugnisse des Bundeskriminalamtes einer gesetzlichen Regelung. Das BKA ist eine nachgeordnete Behörde des Bundesinnenministeriums. Es arbeitet mit einem fest umrissenen rechtlichen Auftrag, der im Grundgesetz und im „BKA-Gesetz“ beschrieben ist.

Die Bundespolizei untersteht dem Bundesministerium des Innern. Im Sicherheitssystem der Bundesrepublik Deutschland nimmt sie umfangreiche und vielfältige polizeiliche Aufgaben wahr, die im Gesetz über die Bundespolizei, aber auch in zahlreichen anderen Rechtsvorschriften, wie z. B. im Aufenthaltsgesetz, im Asylverfahrensgesetz und im Luftsicherheitsgesetz geregelt sind. Die Tätigkeit der Bundespolizei wird weiterhin durch supranationale Regelungen bestimmt. Damit gewinnt die internationale Zusammenarbeit für die Innere Sicherheit in Europa auch für die Bundespolizei zunehmende Bedeutung. Die Bundespolizei verfügt in diesem Bereich bereits über vielfältige Erfahrungen.

Das belegt ihre Beteiligung an wichtigen internationalen Kooperationsprojekten; zum Beispiel:

• den internationalen Polizeikommissionen der Vereinten Nationen zur Krisenbewältigung,
• dem Zivilen Krisenmanagement der Europäischen Union (EU),
• der Europäischen Grenzschutzagentur FRONTEX,
• "COLPOFER" (Zusammenarbeit von Bahnpolizeien und Sicherheitsdiensten)
• und der Baltic Sea Region Boarder Control Cooperation (BSRBCC).

Innerhalb des bestehenden Sicherheitsverbundes arbeitet sie auf der Grundlage von Sicherheitskooperationen eng mit den Polizeien und anderen Sicherheitsbehörden von Bund und Ländern und darüber hinaus mit vielen ausländischen Grenzbehörden zusammen. Mit rund 40.000 Beschäftigten, von denen mehr als 30.000 voll ausgebildete Polizeivollzugsbeamtinnen und -beamte sind, ist die Bundespolizei eine bundesweit verfügbare Polizei von hohem Einsatzwert, die einen wichtigen Beitrag für den Erhalt der inneren Sicherheit in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und in Europa leistet.
