No other topic alarms security and law enforcement authorities more than terrorism does as of today. But it is not only that the face of terrorism has changed since 9/11 or the death of Osama bin Laden or the Arab Spring. Terrorism has become a global challenge for more than just security authorities in many ways. Counter terrorism is all about one: networks.
Therefore, the 15th European Police Congress, taking place on February 14. and 15. 2012 at Berlin Congress Center, will discuss in its two day main program as well as in multiple specialized panel sessions the topics of "Networked Security: Terrorism", emphasizing "Homegrown", "International" and "Cyber" terrorism.
Many high ranking speakers from the European Union, European Police Agencies, International Security Agencies, Germany and abroad will participate. Just for example:
Bernd Rossbach, Acting Executive Director for Police Services, INTERPOL, Michelle Quille, Deputy Director and Head of Europol's Operations Department, Gille de Kerchove, EU counter-terrorism coordinator at the Council of the European Union and Matthias Seeger, President of the German Federal Police will participate in the European Police Congress of 2012. Numerous German and International security experts and six Minister of the Interior from German states will enrich the main program.
In the panel sessions, beside partial aspects of terrorism, several topics will be discussed. Foci will be set on espionage, solid equipment for police forces, crowd management, "intelligent" borders, education and training as well as cyber crime, cyber war and cooperation among police forces in Europe.
